After weeks of anticipation, we finally completed the stove and hood area in our kitchen. The transformation has brought a fresh, functional, and stylish vibe to the heart of our home. I want to share the details of this upgrade, including the installation of our FiveStar Range, the custom hood from CopperHoods, and the finishing touches that make this space uniquely ours. Below is where we started. The 25 year old hood finally gave out. We loved our FiveStar range but it is 25 years old and since we were going to replace the hood we decided to replace everything.

The Custom Hood

The custom hood was a major part of this project. We chose CopperHoods to fabricate it, and the process took about 12 weeks from start to finish. The wait was worth it. The hood’s matching black and brass goes perfectly with the new stove.

This hood isn’t just about looks. It’s designed to efficiently ventilate the space, removing smoke, steam, and cooking odors. The craftsmanship is evident in every detail, from the smooth curves to the sturdy mounting. It feels like a piece of art that also serves a practical purpose.

Adding Functional and Stylish Accents

To enhance the cooking area, we added a Kingston Brass pot filler. I had one in our previous home and missed the convenience it offers. It’s mounted above the range, making it easy to fill pots without carrying them across the kitchen. This small addition saves time and reduces spills.

We also installed a simple pot rail, custom-made by a talented Etsy maker. It’s perfect for hanging frequently used utensils and small pots, keeping them within easy reach. The rail adds a subtle industrial touch that balances the brass on the hood and range.

The backsplash is another highlight. We chose rectified tile that resists staining, making cleanup a breeze. Its clean lines and subtle texture provide a modern backdrop that ties the whole area together.
